I woke up at 7:30 AM totally 100% awake. Ugh. I am going to be exhausted later. And this just leaves me time to stew. I shouldn't stew.

- THOMAS MUELLER BITCHES. There are some players that you can just look at and tell: that kid is going to be a legend one day, and I have no doubt that this is the case for Mueller. A Golden Boot at 20? Are you fucking kidding me? This inexperienced, young kid shows up at the World Cup and makes teams like England and Argentina look like fools. Plays a part in 8 of Germany's goals. I think I have to say my favorite one was probably the assist he had while lying prone on the ground. That just says so much about the kind of player he is. Instead of rolling around hoping a ref would give a free kick, he made his own chances. And, ugh, could he be more fucking adorable and precious? No one is going to be mistaking him for the ballboy anymore, that's for sure.

- I got over my butthurt a little bit. I am still disappointed at that final, because it really was depressing to watch from a football standpoint. Andres Iniesta is still a little shit, but I can't hate the other players all that much. Don't get me wrong, I think this tournament totally erased any Barcelona fannishness I once had in me (ugh please mesut do not go there and sit on their bench). But what can you do. That's fucking life, as my man Frank would say. Spain can't win everything forever. I will take comfort in knowing that not even Brazil can dominate that game for that long. At some point, Germany will beat them. I fucking hope.

- I WANT BASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER TO BE MY FUCKING KAPITAN! Ugh. I am seriously convinced that Lahm must have some sort of incriminating photos of Jogi or something I cannot think of one possible reason that he should be captain instead of Bastian, who is just a natural leader of the team on the pitch, much like Ballack is when he's fit. And he's not a TOTALLY CRAZY PERSON like Lahm is. Look, I love Lahm and his insane bids for power, I really do. But, like, in an abstract sort of sense. When he's making bids to retain the captaincy from Ballack before a freaking World Cup semi-final?! Dude. WTF. Anyway, I think Ballack will be back for Euro 2012 as captain. I personally think Ballack would've helped this World Cup squad rather than hindered it, and given them someone to turn to in things like the Spain game when they were obviously all freaked out and creatively choked. But that's just me!

- Fernando Torres, you better not be fucking with me with that Liverpool scarf! I will cut you, bitch!

- Forlan totally deserved the Golden Ball. I hate that man (he ruins my life! he's a life-ruiner!), but even I have to admit a grudging respect for his skills.

- I find it interesting how Europe totally dominated the finals of this tournament, when it could've very well gone the other way in favor of South America, and every single South American team made it into the Round of 16. IDK what that says, really. Brazil and Argentina were favorites when they shouldn't have been. Uruguay deserved the place they got. A lot of the European football powerhouses were terrible this World Cup. I'm not sure where this is going.

- They really, really need to solve the refereeing problem before the Euros and definitely before 2014. You wouldn't think it would be that hard to find competent refs, would you? I don't know if Blatter will ever budge his stubborn old ass about goal-line technology or instant replay for goals. I fucking hope so.

- I wish Japan or South Korea had gone further. The last bits of this tournament were lacking some AFC. And South Korea, along with Germany, were the only teams playing interesting, attacking football in the group stages. Booooo. Next WC, South Korea!

- Also, this isn't World Cup related, but I've decided that whoever wants to leave Liverpool, I want them to leave. We need a team of players who WANT to be here, who want to make Liverpool a strong club again, who care about rebuilding this team. So, Masch, feel free to skive off to Italy. Stevie, if you're really gonna be That Guy, just fucking do it already. Please don't pull a Xabi Alonso, because I cannot deal with that again. Torres, stop toying with us and just say one way or the other what you want. This team needs to be torn down and reconstructed and we don't want people who'd rather be elsewhere to be a part of that. I am willing to be a fan of a mid-table team for a few seasons while we get ourselves back on track. Unfortunately with big four teams that's not generally allowed to develop and everyone freaks out and announces the end of the world any time you finish below fourth. I don't think Liverpool is heading for quite the apocalyptic dooooom that everyone predicts for them, but it will be rough going for awhile. I think the 08-09 season will probably be the best chance we had for trophies for awhile.

Also I disallowed anonymous comments in my journal because I was getting trolled by random Spain fans. Which is kind of sad really. Your team just won the World Cup and you're trolling my lj? Priorities, people. Priorities.

In any case, the White Sox are winning their division. WHAT NOW?!

That's what gives me hope, too. Spain has a tremendous generation of players right now; guys that have been playing together forever and know each other inside out on the pitch (though some sure do so off the pitch as well, hehe *waggles eyebrows*). But they're not resistant to age, so... let's just wait. ;)

I think Germany is going to be the powerhouse of the next decade. Seriously, when kids THAT young are that impressive, this is something special. We will be talking about "Kaiser Thomas" in 2020, I think!

Mueller! ♥

I keep going back and forth on whether I am still butthurt or not. I guess I wouldn't be so upset if it wasn't for all the diving and emphasis was placed on players who really preformed well and not just any Barca player that was on the pitch. But it's football so I will just have to move on.

I had hoped that Bastian would be captain because I haven't ever been a huge Lahm fan with all his crazy talks all the time. After that captaincy thing with Ballack I am even less so. That was not what we needed brought up right in the middle of a WC. :(

ITA with everything you said about Liverpool. Masch just needs to go if he wants it so bad and Stevie too. I really have faith that Torres will stay. If this turns out to not be true I think it will come down to the club having to sell and not Torres himself wanting a transfer. He always has been more of a club man then about trohpys and glory so I believe that he wants to stay.

I am actually really looking forward to seeing how Liverpool builds itself back up. I like Hodgson and think he will be really good to help get us back together. I can understand fans frustrations at having to deal with the fact that we might not be winning the league anytime soon but seeing is deal with change and rebuild this club is a really exciting prospect to me. If they just want trophys and glory they need to bounce over to United. lol

Man I am so glad I have an optimistic Lierpool fan on my friends list now!

Mueller is amazing. Such a joy to watch. Germany is going to be fucking out of control in 2014.

Yesterday kind of broke me, honestly. Holland aren't my primary team - that's USMNT, without question - but I was born there, and they're my European side through and through, and there's a part of my soul that really cannot deal with the way we lost. I don't want to be butthurt about that match, and yet I am. I believed, and the worst thing is that I still do - I still believe that we should have been champions.

Also, I really have to figure out a way to watch matches that I really, really care about with other people who are major fans. Being the only person crying in a pub while everyone else is either somewhat happy for Spain or somewhat sad for Holland (or me personally because they're my friend) fucking blows. Like, seriously.

I really hope we're all right about 2014. I honestly don't think I can take them playing beautifully and getting so far but going out again in the semis or losing the final.

Which, speaking of, I'm really sorry. That game pissed me off enough as someone who doesn't like either team. I can't imagine watching it as a Dutch fan.

Omg, I never watch these things with big gatherings of people. When Germany lost, it was just my family home, who were wisely silent as I sobbed my heart out.

Thank you for this entry. You are spot on.

I am disgusted with spain. I have given up on fighting and being angry. I just hate that the wc has to end with such a bitter taste in my mouth.

On the other hand, so many teams came out and played the true beautiful football. And they weren't even the bigger countries that you would expect. So many players pushing and beating the odds. They really should get more credit, not teams that went through playing as badly as spain has through this whole competition.

Haha, I love forlan, and am soooo happy he got recognized. He needs to come back to united asap!

I am a united fan, but I totally agree with your opinion about players who don't have their heart in the team and need to just get out. If you don't want to be there, just go. Nothing is worse than a player that doesn't care.

I really hope torres stays and gets better for you guys. It was heartbreaking seeing him pull up with that injury yesterday.

This World Cup did have that aspect of allowing a lot of the smaller teams to shine, like Ghana, South Korea, the USA. Although most of the games were pretty boring, there were a few great ones.

It's funny, because I feel like Liverpool and Man U have a lot of the same problems, and if Man U doesn't watch themselves they'll be heading to the same financial troubles we're currently mired in. The only difference is, you guys have Sir Alex who has a huge amount of sway with the club. I wish Rafa had had that. *sigh*

Yeah, it really pissed me off tbh. I've been getting a lot of shitty anon comments on my world cup hotties picspam too, bitching about me not including some player or other. It's making me very frustrated with people. Sometimes I wish I'd never posted it and just stayed in my unknown little corner of fandom. *sigh*

Schweinsteiger? Is a German player I actually I have a lot of time and respect for, so I can agree with this. The others, if you're curious, are Klose who seems to be an absolute class act and Mueller. When he's not making poor Jamo rip his hair out, he seems to be quite a cool kid.

Lahm, however, and Podolski both have faces I always want to violently punch. :)

Oh, Nando. Pepe is still my favourite Spaniard but you just earned yourself a ticket back into mine and Mama Indes' good books. Don't fuck it up.

Bastian might be coming to the Premier League too. I really hope he gets out of Bayern, they don't appreciate him at all. Klose and Mueller are awesome too, of course. Pretty hard to dislike those three, I think.

My brother has developed a mancrush on Mueller. Hearts in his eyes and everything. He sighed and swooned a little when Mueller scored against Uruguay and then turned to me and said defensively, "It's pretty when he finishes, okay?! It doesn't MEAN anything."

Oh that's not all.

Indes: Um, go Germany? ... Oh shit, Dad.
Papa Indes: *Eloquent raised eyebrow*
Indes: I can explain!
Papa Indes: Actually, you don't need to. Given their relative youth and inexperience and their hellish problems with injuries and losing their captain about a week before training started, the Germans have acquitted themselves unbelievably well. And when they weren't stamping all over my poor, battered, English heart, they played some really exciting and beautiful football.
Indes .........
Papa Indes: I still want them fucking crushed, of course.
Indes: And all is right with the world again.

I paraphrase but that was the gist. It takes one hell of a German team for my Dad to spare them a compliment but he pretty much thinks you'll walk 2014 even if you don't get the Euros.

I hope I wasn't considered one of those "trolling", it wasn't my intention. If you replied to me on your previous entry I can no longer see it since it's been locked, but all I meant was that I thought the Dutch simply didn't play well enough. No value judgments, nothing but my read of the game itself. I don't really have an opinion on Spain/the Spanish team other than I like Iker Casillas and Fernando Torres is adorable (even though I love my Toffees <<).

If you didn't mean me, ignore this, just since I can't see the last entry I thought I'd double-check.

The captain issue: I totally agree. I never really saw Lahm as the captain anyways, and at basically every game the speakers here were saying "Lahm is the captain, but Schweinsteiger is the boss on the field/the emotional support for the team/etc." I don't really understand how Lahm got that position in the first place, and those things he said about not wanting to give back the captain bandage really weren't appropriate at that time. I want Ballack as the captain again for Euros as well.

LOL OMG why do you hate Forlán? xD

The captain decision always baffled me. I sort of assumed it was Bastian's by right. Well, we'll see what happens when Ballack rejoins the team.

He always scores goals against my teams! I like to shake my fists at him and yell DAMN YOU FORLAN!

Hahahahah okay I see. I usually yell that at him too, only it's basically every five minutes and I add a "YOU SEXAY BEAST" behind it xD

I also think (hope) that Ballack will be captain again. At least for the EURO 2012.
And after that? I don't like Lahm's behaviour, so (what about Friedrich?) yes, why not Schweinsteiger?

I have a question: why do you hate Iniesta so much?

I agree with you on so many points

Oh and the part on Liverpool,

We need a team of players who WANT to be here, who want to make Liverpool a strong club again, who care about rebuilding this team.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. It would be heartbreaking if the likes of Stevie and Nando leave us but YES we need a team of players who WANT to be here.
