Just one last post about the Xabi thing, I swear.

my ~final~ thoughts )

Also I cannot wait for World Cup qualifiers to start again omfg.

So, Xabi Alonso put in a transfer request.

Huh.

Well, in the words of my man Frank: THAT'S LIFE - and this fine old world will keep spinning around. *g* I can't deny that I kind of despise Xabi a little bit right now. Whatever love I used to have for him went POOF when he did this with three weeks to the beginning of the season. But I don't hate him - I just don't give a shit about him anymore. I still don't understand why he was so absolutely determined to go to Madrid, but whateva. Maybe what this team needs is a bit of a reshaping. I just wish we'd had more than three friggin' weeks to pull it off.

Oh well. I'm quite used to my teams being screwed over in the transfer market this season. I'm surprisingly zen about this. Liverpool was Liverpool before Xabi Alonso, and it will be after him too.

1. true blood episode four )

2. Guys, Southland is really really fantastic. It's like... The Wire's younger cousin from across the country. I approve. And, yay, I have more than two things to watch next season!

3. I'm about thisclose from breaking up with Xabi Alonso. Sigh. If he does leave at this point, I'll hate him (or at least, really really dislike him) for leaving us up shit creek without a midfield maestro, for dragging it out for so long that we'll have even more of a difficult time getting a replacement. I really don't understand what makes Real Madrid such a preferable club to Liverpool, it's not like he'll get Ronaldo or Kaka levels of money. It's not like he's guaranteed a starting position like he tacitly is at Liverpool. But if you really hate us that much, bb, then you should leave, and, frankly, don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. Sigh. Clearly I'm not bitter at all. But, man, how can I love somebody who's got so much hate on for the 'Pool? For a club that got him a Champions League trophy? I'm trying to convince myself that none of the rumors are true. Damn that Spanish press.

And maybe he will stay, maybe all this shit is made up (at least 80% of it is), but I think I'll always think less of him for this. Like, sorry, we were such a shitty second choice that you settled for when you couldn't go join the glorified ATM in Madrid.

I HAVE A LOT OF ABANDONMENT FEELINGS I NEED TO WORK THROUGH RE: FOOTBALLERS I ONCE LOVED. Xabi, I used to love you so much. :/ But, bb, I just love Liverpool about a hundred times more. Actually I feel like this song expresses my feelings more clearly. Just fucking say something one way or the other. If you're gonna say goodbye, don't take all damn night summer.

In other news:

4. Harry Potter tonight better have the appropriate levels of Harry/Draco gay or I will be sorely disappointed. I may write a strongly worded letter.

Sometimes I watch this video and I think, "I will go die happy now."

It's just... it's just. I just. LOOK AT THAT FUCKING THING. LOOK AT WHERE HE WAS STANDING. aksadlkgajdfgklfklgdfjgalk

This post brought to you by my current living in limbo status since my father has taken all of my belongings back home with him, but I must wait to retun to my belongings until Monday when I finish finals. And everyone is studying and no one will play with me. :(

I JUST REALLY LOVE XABI ALONSO, OKAY? I will love him if he grows his beard out to Metzelder-during-a-tournament proportions. Oh god Xabi please don't do that.

I..... am going to go now.
sarkastic: (foot - s/x god only knows)

Another mostly football only post. :)

I got the key to the screening room that my dorm building has. Giant hi-def screen, surround sound - all awesome things. And immediately after class on Friday I watched my Champions League 2005 DVD. My extreme dorkiness, let me show it to you. *g* (Although I also watched Velvet Goldmine and Hedwig and the Angry Inch and I cannot tell you how much fun it is to watch VG on a huge screen with the sound so loud I'm surprised we didn't get yelled at.) So, here's my most pressing thought: I knew that Xabi scored the equalizing third goal, but no one told me that his goal had the ability to actually induce orgasms. Okay, so that may be a slight exaggeration but seriously omfguh. When I realized that his goal was a PK, I'll admit I was kind of disappointed. And then the goalie saves it but he goes back in and alskjgafkljgsfdkjl;hjghkl;sfhjlsgkjhs. XABI ALONSO SCORED AT THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL AND STEVEN GERRARD I JIZZED IN MY PANTS. My friend who was watching with me was like, "OMFG REWIND THAT RIGHT NOW." So clearly it was not just me. And then I went on YouTube and watched this really cheesy compilation of all of Xabi's Liverpool goals set to one of those vaguely Christian sorta-grunge band songs. But they ended it with the CL goal and I was like, "Fuck. Not fair." I refuse to like this inexplicably angsty video of Xabi's glory and ability to score goals from 6000 yards away. (And holy shit, don't even get me started on his goals from his own half. I think at that point I had begun to cry and rend my garments and yell, "I GIVE UP!") Damn that boy can hit a target. I leave it up to you to follow that train of thought wherever it may lead.

Anyway, on to the game, which I had never seen before. cut for liverpool and mannschaft thoughts that I have to write up here because no one else will listen to me about this *g* )

I'm somewhat embarrassingly excited for the Real Madrid match on the 25th but also absolutely terrified. (I will of course be happily skipping class to watch it because apparently the only thing I will skip class for is football matches.) I know RM has been less than stellar this season but that MEANS NOTHING TO ME. When Liverpool underestimates its opponents it always ends in shamed faces and tears. And then we have to play Man U in full on Cybermen-crush-everything-in-our-path-to-victory mode. Crispi will probably wink after diving and I'll go into an apoplectic rage.

HOW CAN I TALK THIS MUCH ABOUT FOOTBALL? I scare myself.

1. I was supposed to read Oedipus at Colonus (bleh) before going to dinner but instead I am watching an endless series of History Channel specials on Abraham Lincoln. At the end of the last one this historian was narrating the moment of Lincoln's death and he started getting all choked up and I was like, "Awww, poor historian man! I'm sorry this pain is still too real for you!" I love people who love some historical subject enough that it can make them cry as if they actually knew the people involved. It's like crying over fanfic (except, uh, the people are real) but you get paid for it and you get to be on History Channel. P.S. I say this as someone who can and has cried over ancient history, so I am not mocking but loving. *g*

2. I think I figured out part of why I'm loving Merlin/Arthur so much and reading so much Merlin fanfic: I genuinely love both the boys as characters on their own. It's not a case of, "Oh, I'll put up with Character B because I adore Character A and they're infatuated with B" which is how I feel about a lot of my OTPs. I adore both of them and look forward to the day when their gay love saves Camelot. Plus it doesn't hurt that, especially considering the fandom's been around for less than half a year, there's tons of fic and good fic at that. Yay fandom migration!

3. Lost has been so much fun this season. let's talk about that )

4. I shared my theories of Xabi Alonso's stubble growth with [livejournal.com profile] toronja and [livejournal.com profile] randomeliza and now I feel I can share it with the rest of the class.

5. Doesn't the Dead Like Me movie come out soon?
sarkastic: (gk - brad there goes the fear again)
Day 4
Uh, listened to Aretha Franklin's "Respect" in honor of Sookie finally getting a backbone at the end of Club Dead.

Day 5
Slowly watched the counter at Yuletide reach ridiculous heights. Have barely even dipped my toes into see what kind of awesome things await. \0/

Day 6

Why, yes, please ask me what I am wearing right now. BECAUSE I AM WEARING XABI ALONSO. sddlkjgaklf;jgkldfjkladhlkdfhjhgfkljafd [continued keyboard smash for ten pages] (Also, I guess Germans have much broader shoulders than Scousers, since I have the same size and brand for both jerseys but the shoulders actually come close to fitting me. Whereas in the Frings jersey I am like a small defenseless puppy in a sea of jersey.) And I also got a bunch of Threadless shirts and some DVDS, including Prison Break season three, which I have never actually watched. Plus I can finally be released upon Barnes & Noble with my birthday money. Mwah!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY! And happy Thursday to those of you who don't celebrate it. :)
